On January 27, 2003, Residents began to occupy our “new” Fairhaven at 881 Dutton Road. As we look back to the first days of opening, the home was a state-of-the-art home. Now, over 21 years later, design, equipment, and technology are becoming outdated. Residents coming into our home are more familiar with modern technology to stay connected to their family, friends and loved ones. Technology has come a long way in 21 years, and we are looking to help our residents stay connected and up to date.

Each resident home area has a computer for residents to use. These 7 computers and work stations are in need of replacement at an estimated cost of $14,000. Our resident Pat uses the computer to play games to keep her mind alert, connects with family, shares pictures and does her banking online. Computers offer our residents the following:

*Reduces the risk of dementia because it helps improve cognitive functioning and memory skills
*Breaks the distance barrier for loved ones to connect face to face
*Can share and receive images and videos of happy moments
*Provides unbridled entertainment
*Managing independence for being able to manage their own affairs
*Staying informed about current events and news
*Sharing Fairhaven news and events with family and friends and what they are involved in
*Connects them to community resources and support

As a supporter of Fairhaven, we ask for your help to meet the ongoing needs of our residents. We have enclosed a Teddy Bear ornament for you to send along with your donation in the enclosed self-addressed envelope. On the reverse you can write your personal greeting. We will then hang it on our Teddy Bear Christmas tree here at Fairhaven to acknowledge your generosity and support to improve the quality of life for our residents. We wish you the very best throughout this Holiday Season!
